Hinabangan Founding Anniversary is celebrated in the town of Hinabangan, Samar, Philippines every October 15. The date may be a special non working holiday (such as Proclamation No. 601 issued in 2016).
The municipality is located in the southern part of Samar. Its name comes from a Waray word that means “aid” or “assistance”.
During the American period, it was a territory of the municipality of Wright (present-day Paranas) based on a historical record from 1901. Afterwards, it became a ranch of the elites of Samar.
Hinabangan became a municipality when it was combined with the municipal district of Concord through Republic Act No. 263, otherwise known as “An Act Converting the Municipal Districts of Concord and Hinabangan, Province of Samar, into a Regular Municipality”, on June 15, 1948.
