P’gsalabuk Festival

P’gsalabuk Festival is a cultural festival and religious fiesta in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines every May 20. Its schedule is simultaneous with the feast of St. Vincent Ferrer.

The city also celebrates the Dahunog sa Dipolog every October.

History of P’gsalabuk Festival

P’gsalabuk or pagsalabuk is a word in the language of Subanon people that means unity or being together (see Pas’ungko Festival.) P’gsalabuk Festival is organized by the city government as a celebration and a symbol of the unity of its diverse population consisting of Muslims, Christians, and indigenous people.

Devotion to St. Vincent Ferrer

The devotion to St. Vincent Ferrer is observed among the Roman Catholic population in the city. It is the secondary patron of Dipolog Cathedral, the ecclesiastical seat of the Diocese of Dipolog.

P’agsalabuk Festival Activities

The schedule of P’gsalabuk Festival is planned around teh date of May 20, which is the feast day of St. Vincent Ferrer. In 2022, the fest opened in April 29 and culminated in July 1, which is the cityhood anniversary of Dipolog City. Activities include fluvial parade, beauty pageants (P’gsalabuk Festival Queen), talent contests, sports, competitions, concerts,  etc.
