Papaya Festival

Papaya Festival is a fruit festival celebrating papaya, the crop that the municipality of General Tinio in Nueva Ecija, Philippines is known for. It is held in August.

Papaya Festival was launched in August 2014 within the term of then Mayor Virgilio A. Bote (honorary chairman of the fest) and Vice Mayor Ferdinand P. Bote (chairman). Its guest of honor was Governor Aurelio M. Umali. It was a two-day affair from August 29 to August 30.

The municipality of General Tinio produces 20 tons of papaya daily according to a report in 2014. The trees are planted in 140 hectares of fertile land.

Activies included Gandang Papaya (a beauty pageant), cook fest, street dance, cultural shows, talent competitions, etc.
