History of Aurora Festival
Aurora Festival began as an expression of devotion to San Roque (St. Roch of Montpellier), the patron saint of the sick. Its activities are organized by forty religious clans who are devotees of the saint in the city.
Novena prayers are offered in the evenings. Religious services culminate in a solemn procession along Tanjay River.
Devotees are on board water vessels and bear the image of the patron. Others also witness by the banks of the river and on the bridges.
Aurora Festival was conducted during the time of Mayor Arturo S. Regalado. After a hiatus due to coronavirus pandemic, it was held again starting in 2021.
